Location. Khao Lak Orchid Beach Resort overlooks the Andaman Sea in Khao Lak, Thailand. The resort is adjacent to Khukkhak Beach and two kilometers from the Khao Lak bus station. Hotel Features. Khao Lak Orchid Beach Resort is a colonial style property set in an area noted for its golden beaches and tropical forests. The resort offers a freeform outdoor pool, a children's pool, fitness equipment, a play area and bicycling. A spa tub, a steam room, a play area and a sauna also are on site. Vanda Spa offers traditional and Thai massage in quiet surroundings with garden views. Fragrans Restaurant features Thai and international cuisine from early morning to late evening in a setting that overlooks coconut palms and the beach. The Pool Bar offers snacks and beverages during the day and includes a swim up bar. Venue 29 Bar offers drinks and light meals from late morning to late night. The resort provides daily complimentary buffet breakfasts. Additional features include a library and local limo service to surrounding locations. Pets are not permitted at this resort.
Guestrooms. The three story resort (no elevators) includes 56 guestrooms with furnished balconies and ocean views. Décor is contemporary with Thai influences. Colorful accents and throw pillows complement all white bedding. Guestrooms include wireless Internet access for a fee, CD and DVD players and international direct dial phones. Additional amenities include minibars, refrigerators and coffee and tea makers. Bathrobes and slippers are included.
Expert Tip. Khao Lak is the departure point for excursions to popular dive sites at Similan and Surin Islands. Elephant trekking and guided tropical rainforest hikes also are popular activities.
Renovation Notice: Effective May 1, 2008, the hotel is undergoing expansion of a new building, "Orchid Wing," and an adult only "Beach Front Swimming Pool." During this time, all rooms in the main wing, swimming pool, Fragrans Restaurant, Verve 29 Bar&Restaurant, Vanda Spa, and other facilities will continue to operate without any disruption. The estimated date of completion is October 2008. These dates are subject to change.
