Great cultural and historic tour
Derek_A, 13-09-2022
A lovely and very interesting educational tour of Cambodian culture, religion and history. Driver collected me at my hotel in Bangkok (he was late)! Then roughly 4.5 hrs drive to border of Thailand and Cambodia. We stopped for a snack and to use the restrooms.

At the border I met the agent Mr. Aun who was very nice. The Border town (Aranyaprathet) is very busy, with the hustle and bustle of life, traffic and people so after a long drive I felt quite swept into it all!

It’s not a very touristy place so as a tall ‘western looking’ black man, I was the feature of the day - compared to Bangkok, where it is more of a modern city vibe and I didn’t stand out as much. However I felt safe and Mr. Aun walked me over to the Visa office, where he took my passport to get the correct visa for me.

I didn’t want to be separated from my passport, especially to a stranger I just met - but I believe Mr. Aun had already processed my visa in advance of my arrival which actually meant I didn’t have to stand in a long queue for hours to get my visa slip. Mr. Aun returned after 10 mins with my passport and I paid him approx. £45 ($52).

The company did not tell me the price of this visa. I think it would have been helpful to be told how much cash to have spare for this - as if I did not take some cash out the day before I would have been very stuck.

Take some cash guys!!

Mr. Aun said goodbye and left me with another driver this time who then drove me onto Siam Reap in Cambodia. There I met Yuth who greeted me with the biggest smile and warm welcome.

Yuth took me to eat lunch at a tourist friendly restaurant serving great tasting food. I had the stir fried veg and tofu with a mixed fruit smoothie. Yum.

Yuth had good English and told me of his experience as a tour guide and explained what we would be doing on the tour. Yuth made me feel very welcome and with the driver we drove to the hotel and I checked in to the lovely Tara Angkor hotel. The following days were great with Yuth’s guidance and explanations of the history and religion in Cambodia. Yuth was amazing. His knowledge was great and he answered my many questions.

The boat tour, and Angkor Wat visits were very memorable and enjoyable and I’d recommend this tour to any solo traveler (like me), duo or group.

I wasn’t sure what to expect of the tour. Especially as a Londoner form a big city I thought I had an idea what Cambodia was like but was really happy to learn about the warm culture, and experience such a great way of life living alongside nature, traditional customs and modern society. I’d certainly go back.
Visiting Angkor Wat with Mr. Vithyea as my guide.

This is a fantastic trip that was run very well. The provided transportation to/from BKK and Siem Reap was on time and comfortable. The hotel, Angkor Holiday Hotel, is clean, comfortable, and in easy walking distance of dining and shopping. The trip includes assistance (Mr. Aun in my case) to help with the border crossings and I found this very useful.

I found the trip to Tonle Sap and the floating village to be very interesting. We were there at sunset and it was awesome to see the sun setting over the floating village.

The real treat is visiting Angkor Wat and the other sites nearby. This was made more special with Mr. Vithyea as my guide. Mr. Vithyea is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and was eager to share that information and answer my questions.

Visiting Angkor Wat was a "bucket list" item for me and I am very happy that I chose this trip to help me realize my dream.
A Great Girls Trip to Siem Reap

Had a great short stay highlighted by our visit to Angkor Wat, which started with a direct pickup at our BKK hotel and arrival at our hotel in Siem Reap (Tara Angkor) after spending about 7hrs on the road. Got a little anxious at the Cambodian border, but we met a guide who made all the necessary arrangements. Our hotel was quaint but pleasant and the rooms were of a good size and kept clean daily. Our day 1 started with a lunch at a nearby local restaurant (good but with tourist prices indeed) then to a tour of Ton Le Sap Lake and the floating village. The tour was enlightening, educational and the good weather capped it with a beautiful sunset on the lake. Day 2 was all about our visit to Angkor Wat and the other nearby temples, concluding with Ta Prohm. Our tour guide for both days was Mr. Saroun, who was very knowledgeable, a good story-teller and a kind and proud Khmer, along with Mr. Lee, our driver for the whole 3 days.

Highly recommend doing at least 3 days for this tour as 2 days would’ve been too tiring as the road trip from Bangkok takes a great deal of time. Also, it would pay to ask your tour operator the details of the tour (who will pick you up, steps at each stop, etc.) prior to make sure everything is set. Considering that we booked the tour only the day prior, it was definitely a worthwhile experience.

Our tour guide vithyea was excellent as well as the driver. We are so thankful for this experience which they made unforgettable. we spent a day on the major sights of angkor and enjoyed the discovery of siem reap. I recommend the tour to every person willing to explore and learn more about cambodia's way of life and historical background.
Trip to Angkor Wat

This tour was very good, however the transportation from Bangkok to the Cambodian border was confusing. It turned out that our hotel was hard to find, and thus the driver was late. Furthermore, we ran into several traffic issues on the way out of Bangkok. When we finally made it out of the city, it went smoothly. Border crossing and transport to Siem Reap went relatively smoothly. The hotel accommodations were excellent aand so was the balance between free time and touring Sap Lake and Angkor Wat. The guide was very good. However, if we were to come again, we would probably fly to Siem Reap directly to avoid border hassles.
