What To Expect

Wat Suthat Thep Wararam is a Buddhist temple and is it is a royal temple of the first grade. It is one of ten such grand temples in Bangkok, meaning that it was built between 1782-1910. The original construction was begun by King Rama I in 1807 and further construction and decorations were carried out by King Rama II who helped carve the wooden doors, but the temple was not completed until 1847 during the rule of King Rama III.

The Democracy Monument before you is a popular public monument in the centre of Bangkok. This monument was planned in 1939 to remember the infamous 1932 Siamese coup d'état, also known as the "Siamese Revolution of 1932" or just 1932 Revolution.

The National Museum Bangkok
The Bangkok National Museum is the main museum of the National Museums in Thailand and is also the largest museum in Southeast Asia featuring great exhibits of Thai art and history. The building of the Bangkok National Museum was historically the former palace of the vice king but a decision was made to house the museum in this spot and after few alterations the museum was opened in 1874 by King Rama V.

Sanam Luang
Sanam Luang is a 30 acre open field and public square in front of the Grand Palace and is also officially known as Thung Phra Men or the royal cremation ground. Sanam Luang has been used since the time of King Rama I when Bangkok was originally founded and it slowly became a popular place for royal ceremonies and functions, including the cremation of the Prince of the Palace, who was Rama I's brother.

Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew)
The Emerald Buddha is the great treasure of the Kingdom of Thailand; located in the Emerald Buddha Temple, it is an object of great antiquity on which the safety Thailand is said to depend on. The Emerald Buddha is a grand statue of a meditating Buddha seated in yoga position, and is actually made of green jasper, rather than emerald clothed in gold, and is about 30 inches tall.

The Grand Palace
The Grand Palace is a series of buildings in the middle of Bangkok. The Grand Palace was the official residence of the Kings of Siam from 1782. The king, his court and his royal government were based on these grounds of the palace until 1925. The complex of the Grand Palace is approximately in the shape of a rectangle and has a combined area of a whopping 2,351,000 sq ft. It is close to the banks of the Chao Phraya River at the heart of the Rattanakosin Island.

Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam)
The Temple of the Reclining Buddha is massive, and takes up approximately 20 acres and is home to more than one thousand Buddha images, as well as one of the largest single Buddha statues The gold leaffed reclining Buddha is 160 feet in length 15m high with his right arm supporting the head with tight curls on two box-pillows of blue, richly encrusted with glass mosaics.
