What To Expect

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
For this tour we wake up and leave early in the morning at 05:00 - 05:10 am. and drive up into the mountains to visit the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple ( A Chiang Mai Land-mark.) We highly recommend visiting this famous temple at dawn. The temple is quiet and the monks are just chanting, rousing and going out to receive alms offerings. Without any crowds you can enjoy the magical morning light and incredible views in serenity. It is the beginning to a great and wonderful day.

Doi Suthep temple is located on the peak of the Doi Suthep Mountains and is the most famous landmark in Chiang Mai. They say you have not truly been to Chiang Mai if you have not visited this temple ! At the top of the temple you can view the pagoda shining with real gold, and a viewing platform offers panoramic views of the whole Chiang Mai City – take in the wonderful countryside landscape while the sun rises behind the city and mountains. The morning sky and view could be immortalized in a beautiful painting ! Morning life at the temple is unforgettable -the sound of temple bells, monks chanting and the fascinating view of Chiang Mai will fill your heart. Don’t leave Chiang Mai without this impression.!!!

Before we continue to the other sites, we will have a nice and original taste of famous and delicious Chiang Mai food. ( Khoi Soy or Thai local breakfast sticky rice and Local Thai KFC. )

After sunrise. we will drop by at the hidden jungle temple and Wat U-Mong to enjoy the serenity surrounding & peace ! Both of them are unique meditation places, very interesting and serene.

See you in the morning at 5:00 a.m.-05:10 a.m.

Just fantastic! Sipohn, our guide, was brilliant and very friendly, he had so many stories to tell.
I enjoyed it so much I booked a private tour with him the next day!
Thank you Pohn and Untouched Thailand :-)

Sipohn was an amazing tour guide. Very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I wasn’t able to walk up the stairs to the temple, so he accompanied me on the cable car so that I didn’t have to go alone. The views were amazing and I truly feel like I experienced the culture. We ended up having lunch at a vegetarian/vegan restaurant and it was literally the best food that I ate my entire trip to Chiang Mai! It was very much worth waking up early for!
This was the most wonderful experience during our time in Chiang Mai!

After seeing many (many, many, many...) temples in the old town I was a little apprehensive about booking this trip — but boy oh boy am I glad I did! The three temples we visited were unlike any of the other temples I've seen in Chiang Mai.

Temple breakdown if it interests you:
— The first temple had the most beautiful lookout over the city and it was a once in a lifetime experience listening to the monks chant, and giving offerings as the sun came up.
— The second temple was the most relaxing place I've ever been - I kinda wanted to stay there! It was a fully outdoor temple, beautifully blended in with nature and the sound of waterfalls (we were told the water from the waterfall runs down into the Old Town moat — which I thought was pretty cool! This is the temple where the guide spent many years as a monk himself, so it felt pretty special to be accompanied by him there.
— The final temple reminded me of Hobbiton (maybe it's just because I'm a New Zealander!?) the underground temple and tunnels were incredible — I've certainly not experienced a temple underground in a tunnel before!

The host was soo lovely and knowledgeable (obviously) as an ex monk himself, and the food was delicious!

If you're considering this trip — do it! I really couldn't recommend it enough!
Amazing tour by an amazing guide

Highly recommend this tour - Sipohn is a fantastic guide and his 4WD made the winding ride up the mountain so comfortable. Sipon shared with us many anecdotes about monk life and was always happy to answer any questions.

I think one of the best things about this tour is that because it is so early, the weather is really nice and cool and there are not many people around so it felt really peaceful.

At Doi Suthep - you are brought to the view point before and after sunrise so you get a night and morning view of Chiang Mai.
We also participated in the alms to the Monks before having Khao Soi for breakfast.

The second stop was my favourite - Wat Pha Lat - it is a beautiful and magical place!

Last stop was Wat Umong - an interesting place - and the collection of buddha heads and bodies were also really interesting to see.

Thank you for a lovely trip!
