What To Expect

Your English-speaking guide and driver will be waiting at your hotel before heading out toward Chiang Saen. Before reaching this charming town along the Mekong, we make a stop at one of the last White Hmong settlements still present in this part of the country.

Baan Kiew Karn is a small settlement on top of a mountain where generation-long cherished traditions remain a part of life.

Chiang Saen
Besides meeting a local hill tribe, you will thoroughly enjoy the scenic countryside that leads to Chiang Saen, formerly known as Wiang Hiran Nakhon Ngoen Yang when it served as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom.

It is here where we embark into a long tail boat for an upstream sailing trip towards the actual Golden Triangle area. With Laos on starboard and Thailand on the port side, you will be sailing on the border between both nations! You will disembark right before where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar converge.

Wat Pra That Pukhao
Once the playing grounds of drug lords and smugglers, nowadays the atmosphere is quite different: from local vendors selling souvenirs and handicraft, visitors will be guided up to the Wat Pra That Phu Kao, the famous viewpoint overlooking the three nations with the Mekong River playing a central role. Ample time will be given to shop around for souvenirs or locally-produced knick-knacks as a reminder to your visit to the Thailand side of the Golden Triangle.
